The reserve has become their home, thanks to the conservation work we carry out to protect their habitat. All of this is possible with the support of our donors and the commitment made by Las Balsas, ancestral community for protecting these and other birds.
Every evening, more than 3,000 specimens gather near the Las Piedras river in the algarrobo forest protected by the reserve, offering a fascinating spectacle of collective flight towards their roosting spots.
In addition to being their resting area, the reserve is a safe habitat for reproduction. This week, during the periodic monitoring conducted by our park rangers, they discovered a natural nest with Lilacine Amazon chicks, nesting high in a bototillo tree. And, during the monthly monitoring of the 70 nest boxes placed strategically in the reserve, we received the exciting news that one of them housed three fledglings, ready to venture out of the nest.
These discoveries inspire us to continue with our conservation efforts, counting on the active participation of the community and the invaluable support of our donors, allowing our conservation and preservation work to be continuous and long-term.
Together, we protect thousands of Lilacine Amazon specimens and preserve Las Balsas reserve, which they have made their home, building a future where these magnificent birds continue to color our skies with their unique presence.
