Volunteering in the Galapagos Islands in collaboration with Operation Wallacea

05 Ago 2022
Fundación Jocotoco welcomed international groups of volunteers willing to discover the Galapagos Islands uniquely by involving them in several conservation activities within our Galapagos reserve and activities conducted by the Galapagos National Park.

In June and July 2022, international volunteers traveled to the Galapagos Islands to help us with our conservation activities. They participated in reforestation and petrel monitoring in our private reserve, Los Petreles, located in the highlands of San Cristobal island. In addition, they conducted sea lion surveys at the main beaches.

They assisted with the daily chores at the tree nursery and the tortoise breeding center in collaboration with the Galapagos National Park and its park guards. We complemented their expedition with a full-day excursion to Kicker Rock, including snorkeling, diving, and discovery diving. This was a rewarding experience for our local staff and the volunteers as they shared their knowledge and culture.

Fundación Jocotoco is keen to offer volunteer learning opportunities worldwide, especially for students and professionals involved in conservation, scientific research, and environmental education. Our programs will be available in Galapagos and the Chocó rainforest.
