Fundación Jocotoco, together with Rainforest Trust, IUCN and Fundación de los Andes Tropicales visited in April a very important reserve protecting the Chocó rainforest. This reserve is currently threatened by invasions.
We assessed the situation with drone imagery and park-guards were implemented as a safeguard measure to show local presence against potential invaders.
Several institutions are now taking measures to solve this situation. This biodiversity hotspot is highly threatened and a joint conservation effort is needed to save one of the only remnant core areas in coastal Ecuador.
