1000 birds challenge in Ecuador
30 Abr 2019Eugeni Capella and Miquel Bonet are bird-watchers and conservation activists who decided to take on a challenge -never accomplished before- of seeing 1000 bird species in Ecuador in 75 days travelling only by land. Their goal was to transmit the importance of Ecuador's spectacular bird diversity and raise funds for conservation.
In this period of time they visited 12 of our reserves, and finally reached the goal of seeing the 1000th species -a Scarlet-thighed dacnis(Dacnis venusta)- at the Canandé reserve. This journey also contributed to our project towards the conservation of the subspecies of the Great green macaw (Ara ambiguus guayaquilensis)which is critically endangered. Under Grallaria Tours, they donated 100 footballs to promote the project in Las Tunas community.
