More support for Galapagos conservation
The unique and biodiverse terrestrial ecosystems of Galapagos, face the presence of invasive species as the main threat that become the greatest conservation challenge because they displace native fauna.
In Jocotoco, we are committed to fighting this threat. To mitigate and eradicate the problem we have the support and expertise of the Agency for Regulation and Control of Biosecurity and Quarantine for Galapagos (ABG).
The ABG is an institution affiliated to the Ministry of the Environment. Its responsibility is to reduce the risk of introduction and dispersal of exotic species that threaten the biodiversity of the islands, the local economy and human health.
This week, Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco, with the generous support of Re:Wild, delivered a MAZDA DC-4x4 vehicle to the ABG. This strengthens the monitoring and control of invasive species that this institution carries out on Santa Cruz Island.
This type of donations increases the capacity to protect the effective work in defense of the native fauna of the archipelago that all Ecuadorians love.
