Meet Joy Woolfson our Director of Operations
In her final year of secondary school, Joy had the opportunity to travel to the Galapagos Islands and was left marveling at the unique and rare species she saw there.

Motivated by curiosity and interest in conserving those species, as well as the possibility of living in the Galapagos, she decided to study biology.

Nonetheless, as she studied and got to know continental Ecuador, she fell in love with the mega-diversity of our country, seeing the threats and lack of attention here compared to the Galapagos island region. So it was that Joy decided to stay on the continent. For more than 26 years, she has worked in restoring and conserving Ecuadorian ecosystems and supporting sustainable rural development.

Ah! And don't be deceived by her last name: although her roots are English, Arab, and Croatian, she's as Ecuadorian as our own Jocotoco Antpitta.

We at Jocotoco are excited to be able to count on Joy's enthusiasm to help us keep strengthening our teamwork and sustain the projects and conservation efforts we undertake at the foundation.

Welcome, Joy!
