THE HUGE HARPY EAGLE IS THE MOST POWERFUL EAGLE OF THE WORLD

It feeds on sloths and primates. Rare and thinly spread throughout its range, the presence of Harpy Eagles testifies to the health of the ecosystem. Fundación Jocotoco's reserves are the only site in Western Ecuador where Harpy Eagles are known to breed.

Revered by indigenous people for their magic powers, Harpy Eagles are threatened by rapid deforestation of rainforests throughout their range. Harpy Eagles mate for life and raise a chick every 2-3 years. Their huge talons are larger than those of Grizzly Bears, allowing them to carry primates and sloths to their nests.

Help us save Harpy Eagles, the superb predator of lowland rainforests.
