Fundación Jocotoco, top eBirder in Ecuador

Even though Ecuador was on strict lockdown during Global Big Day, we were able to participate simultaneously from 13 of our reserves. Thanks to the coordination of our staff in Jocotoco and Jocotours, most of our field workers received the proper training to register and use the eBird app. This was a joined effort between Michelle Hidrobo, Byron Puglla, Efraín Cepeda and Byron Delgado together with our park rangers. We also set trails, times and lists beforehand.

Thanks to our team work, Fundación Jocotoco reached the top place in the country by a wide margin, and registered 18 lists with 457 species. Ecuador, as a country, occupied the third place globally. We thank our staff for thriving despite difficult times!?
