Galapagos Petrel monitoring
Our new Jocotoco Galápagos Reserve Manager Jacob Salinas and our park ranger Eduardo Rios are carrying out activities of monitoring and invasive species control for the protection of the Galapagos Petrel.

We are pleased to announce that Jacob Salinas has joined our Jocotoco family! He is a Biologist born in Galápagos who will manage our Jocotoco Galápagos Reserve. He and our park ranger Eduardo Rios are carrying out activities of monitoring and invasive species control. Additionally, during the last months we received national and international volunteers that helped in our conservation work. Thanks to this joined effort we identified 144 cavities of the Galapagos Petrel, of which 13 are currently occupied, and three have chicks.

Eduardo and our Research Coordinator José León attended a workshop offered by the Galapagos government to improve the control of invasive species. We are looking forward to continuing to see more nests being occupied during the long breeding season that lasts until October. Controlling invasive animals allow us to improve the protection of this colony of Galapagos Petrel on the Island of San Cristobal.
