We are pleased to expand our Banded Ground-Cuckoo conservation project thanks to the support of Rufford Foundation, which will be led by Eliana Montenegro, a former staff member of Fundación Jocotoco.

In this project we will install trap cameras on eight transects in our Canandé and Tesoro Escondido Reserves. The findings will provide us with important data on habitat preferences of the Banded Ground-Cuckoo in the area. Furthermore, the project will also give us valuable data of other elusive fauna in and near the reserves.

This is a continuation of the previous project funded through the Evolutionary Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) program started in 2017. This included environmental education and training of local people to motivate future leaders of conservation in the area.
