Workshops with the community in Cerro de Arcos

Thanks to the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, we launched the environmental awareness campaign in the communities near Cerro de Arcos, habitat for the recently discovered and already critically endangered hummingbird, Blue-throated Hillstar. Our Southern Reserves Director, Byron Puglla, visited the schools and communities of the area to explain the importance of protecting this species. We created a children's book named "Kinti" that talks about this hummingbird and its threats.
One of our goals is to show how the community can collaborate towards the conservation of this critically endangered bird. We are having strategic meetings with the community to sign an agreement on restoring and reforesting key areas with Chuquiragua.
