Ecological corridor will connect with Buenaventura Reserve

The 19^th of December the ecological corridor of El Oro was officially declared. Fundación Jocotoco, World Wildlife Fund, Instituto Nacional de Biodiversidad, and Naturaleza y Cultura Internacional were part of this important event. This declaration is a milestone for the protection of Buenaventura Reserve and the unique cloud forests of south-western Ecuador, which harbor many endemic species, such as our flagship species El Oro Parakeet. This project started with the support of Loro Parque Fundación.

In addition, Jocotoco signed a conservation agreement with Clemente Bravo, the Governor of El Oro province, and the Municipality of Piñas to continue our conservation and reforestation activities in Buenaventura Reserve.
